TSC: Who are you? Name? Age? Where do you live? Married/kids? Occupation?
NP: Nicole Pollack. 23 years old. I live in Manhattan. Single and ready to mingle. I am a management consultant. I am currently doing a sabbatical at Tone House because I love the team spirit and culture they have cultivated there.
TSC: When did fitness first become a part of your life? Have you always been an athlete? Did you start working out as an adult? Did you workout earlier in life and start up again? If so, what and why?
NP: I’ve dabbled with a bunch of different workouts. In high school, I boxed. Then, when I went to college, I started running and did three half marathons. Once I graduated from college, I moved to New York City and started testing out all of the boutique fitness gyms and fell in love with Tone House. When I’m on vacation, I always incorporate fitness into my activities. The photo is from a hike in Lucerne Switzerland.
TSC: What is your current workout routine? How many days a week/hours a day do you workout? What types of workouts do you do? All one type or switch it up?
NP: I went to Tone House and absolutely loved the team spirit and go getter nature of Tone House. You are never doing the same movements over and over, which keeps it engaging for someone like me who gets easily bored. When I first went to Tone House, I was the last one to finish every single exercise, but I committed to keep coming and improving. At first, I went once a week, then three times a week, and now I go 5 times a week. Not only has the workout changed my body, but it’s changed my mental attitude and given me a fitness community to support me and keep me committed to my fitness goals.
TSC: How do your prioritize fitness and wellness in your (busy) life?
NP: I make sure I get my workout in at the beginning of the day. If you wait until later in the day, other things tend to creep up on you (e.g., work, dinners) and distract you from achieving your fitness goals.
TSC: Why is working out/fitness important to you and your lifestyle?
NP: Workouts keep me focused and energized to power through the week. When I eat properly, workout and get sufficient sleep, I’m a more productive and happier person. Workouts have also been a great way for me to make friends (like you!)
TSC: What other aspects of healthy living do your incorporate in your life? Wellness? Sleep routines? Meal prep? Favorite healthy places to eat out/recipes readers should try?
NP: I try to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. I try to build in at least one hour during the weekend to reflect on the previous week and start planning for the following week to keep me mentally focused and organized. I love Sweetgreen – I’m obsessed with their guac greens and new portabella taco bowl.
TSC: If you could share one thing with readers of The Sweat Chronicles what would it be?
NP: I always strive to be perfect 100% of the time, but sometimes work takes over your life for a few weeks and you skip some workouts and eat a few too many peach-o gummies. Don’t be discouraged by this disruption in your routine. You can always get back to your goals.
